Dr. Taat is proud to offer her patients the ability to be completely relaxed through their dental appointments with Sedation Dentistry using a CHOICE OF 2 CONSCIOUS SEDATION OPTIONS: Nitrous Oxide, a small pill prior to the procedure.
Dr. Taat has trained with some of the world’s most prominent Sedation Dental Specialists.

Facts About Sedation Dentistry

  1. It works.
  2. It is safe.
  3. Work requiring several appointments can be done in 1 visit!
  4. People who have difficulty getting numb have no problem when relaxed.
  5. It is safely used to reduce the fatigue of extended dental treatments that require long visits.

How does Nitrous Oxide work?

A small mask will be placed over the patient’s nose and adjusted so that the patient is comfortable. At this time, the patient will be breathing 100% oxygen.

Once the patient is comfortable breathing oxygen, the dentist gradually will introduce nitrous oxide. When the patient is feeling completely relaxed, the procedure can begin.
At the conclusion of the sedation dentistry treatment, the patient will once again receive 100% oxygen (for a minimum of three to five minutes). At the end of this time, the person should feel absolutely back to normal.

How does the pill work?

You are given a pill to take one hour prior to your dental appointment. A companion will accompany you to the office. When you arrive, you will be very drowsy. You will relax into a very comfortable chair, covered with a thick, warm, cozy blanket. Your vital signs will be monitored. After you are comfortable, our experienced clinical team will take care of your dental needs. When your treatment is completed your companion will return you home to finish your relaxing sleep.

OraVerse™ - Reverses the Effects of Local Anesthetic

OraVerse™ is the first and only local anesthesia reversal agent that accelerates the return to normal sensation and function for patients who want to avoid the unwanted and unnecessary lingering soft tissue anesthesia, i.e., anesthesia of the lip and tongue, following routine dental procedures.

With the use of OraVerse™, the numbness disappears in at about half the time!
OraVerse™ is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as safe and effective for adults and children six years and older and weighing 33 lbs or more.

The active ingredient in OraVerse is phentolamine mesylate, a drug used in other medical applications for the past 50 years. There are no major contraindications to use of the product, and it is administered in the same site as the original anesthesia.

Most patients are happy to know that they no longer have to schedule an afternoon off work and are able to go about their daily activities like they’ve never been in the dental chair.
